Healthcare in Lintha Village
Since Sue & Sahin's first visit in 1998, funding healthcare for the people of Lintha village has been an increasing facet of the work of the Andrew Clark Trust. In fact in 2016, the Trust will have spent around $15,000 caring for the varied needs of the people ranging from regular routine visits to the local doctor and hospital in nearby Thandwe to covering emergency treatment and surgery in far off Yangon.
We help not only with the considerable costs involved in treatments and associated procedures, but also with the often complicated logistics of travel, post operative care, and the individual needs of each patient. |
The local hospital in Thandwe is very basic and standards fall far below those we enjoy and often take for granted.
The Trust is heavily reliant on the generosity and kindness of supporters that allow it to maintain this much needed help to the local people. Without that backing a large proportion of the Lintha population wouldn't have access to even the minimum of healthcare.
Of course healthcare issues aren't restricted to treatment and post operative care. Sanitation and preventative measures are equally if not more important and in this respect we were again very lucky to have been visited by the Digging Deep team from Australia.
